Farmer Software in the Cloud

The Times has a piece by a business professor describing some software applications, a couple of which reside in the cloud: FarmLogs and Farmeron,.

I suppose the next step will be communication between MIDAS and the data in such applications.

As one of the founders of FarmLogs, I can say that you are correct in thinking that the product should integrate with MIDAS. Such integration would be great for our taxpayers by reducing the cost of data acquisition as well as great for the growers by making their data more accessible.

It is a shame that the 2008 Farm Bill places limitations on who the FSA can expose the data to. There is massive potential benefit to farmers and the economy being held back because of a poor decision to include section 1619 in the bill.
